Arina's Story Part V
(October 2004)

People still ask me, "How are you adjusting to being in America?" It has now been six (6) years since I arrived in New Jersey.

I think that my life is not much different than many people who have lived here forever ...

This photo was taken at A Volga Girl's New Year's Banquet 2004. I like it very much becasue it makes me look so glamorous !! What woman does not like such photos??

Another year has passed. I believe this year has gone the fastest for me. It is hard for me to believe that six (6) years have passed since I first arrived in New Jersey. I consider that my life is a very full one, and that the business of living life allows time to fly by. I still continue to operate work room that tailors custom made window treatments and board-mounted valances.

The purchase of a flat (apartment) in Togliatti was an exciting adventure. Major renovations were required before decorating could begin. I must say that our friend Helen Bessonova did a fantastic job of working with all of the Russian contractors involved. Without Helen's efforts the work could never have been done, as I was in New Jersey and could not be present through the work beginning to end. The window decorating that followed required a lot of work on my part, but I must say that I ma very proud of the finished product(s).

I am fortunate that during the past year my husband Craig and I spent many days together doing things that we both enjoyed. I think that working is only important in order to enjoy life and the people around us that feel important.

Below are some photos that highlight my past year. Thank you for taking the time to read and review this update. It is surely worth you while to find the Russian girl that you believe is right for you. I know that such a find can truly change her life for the better.

My 5th wedding anniversary in February was a very exciting time. My husband presented me me with a new car. This was very much a surprise.

I was extremely pleased to be able to host my good friends once I finished decorating my own apartment in Togliatti. Pictured here from the left are Sergei, Elena, Sahsa, and me.

Craig and I celebrated his 50th birthday in May with friends at one of our favorite restaurants.

Craig and I have both fished since we were children, and this is a hobby that we now share together. We purchased this boat in spring and quickly named it the Baby Musia. Here I am near nightfall on the Susquehanna River near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

A Saturday afternoon in August on Lake Hopatcong near our home in New Jersey.

The Susquehanna River is known for it's Smallmouth Bass fishing. I release most all of the fish that I catch. This one fought hard and derserved a photo (first).

The Susequehanna River (again). I did not know the history of Three-Mile Island (seen here in the background). Craig informs me that it was the scene of an near-terrible nuclear accident in the late 1970's, unlike the Chernobyl disaster in Ukraine in the 1980's.

In the summer of 1998, Craig & I scheduled our in-person meeting in the Czech Republic. It was there that we first fished together. Craig took this photo of me at a lake in the southwest of that little country. We caught many carp here.

This photo pictures my parent's dacha (summer house) near the Volga River and approximately 2 hours drive from Togliatti.. I spent all of my summers growing up here.

Here I am fishing in the Volga River with a cane pole. This photo was taken in 1994, when I was 16 years old.
